The participants in the Forum acknowledge the principal importance of civil society in the proactive implementation of energy efficiency measures and economic modernization to ensure sustainable development and propose the following.
September 23, 2010 in the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation held a regular meeting of the Social Forum on Energy Efficiency and Climate Change.
Resolution by March 23, 2010
Social Forum - is a permanent «place», which unites members of the public, business and scientific community to ensure the active participation of civil society in formulating and implementing proposals to enhance energy efficiency and innovation for sustainable development, international cooperation on climate change mitigation, energy efficiency, organization market ecosystem services.
It was attended by over 150 people, including representatives of more than 50 regions of Russia.
Meeting of March 23, 2010
On 7-18 December 2009, the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change is to be held in Copenhagen. Leaders from nearly all countries of the world will prepare a new agreement on climate change prevention to extend the Kyoto Protocol that ends in 2012.
Participants in the Forum express concern about growing negative anthropogenic impact that leads to climate change and heavier pollution levels resulting in health impairments, degradation of the environment, and depletion of natural resources; realize the importance of the assurance of energy efficiency for sustainable development; and propose as follows.
On 30 September, 2009, the Social Forum of Energy Efficiency and Climate Change was held at the Civic Chamber of the Russian Federation.
The Social Forum on Energy Efficiency and Climate Change adopted a resolution summarizing the Forum’s results.
