Discussing Priorities for Sustainable Development

    The congress held a discussion of national and regional (at the Eurasia level) priorities in the field of ecology and sustainable development in the key of the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN in 2015. The discussion was attended by scientists and experts, politicians and representatives of civil society.

    On May 27, within the framework of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, a panel discussion "Spiritual Culture - Common Values ​​of Peoples" was held.

    Among the priority areas, the importance of spiritual culture for ensuring sustainable development and harmonization of human relations with the outside world was noted.

    On May 28-29, as part of the First Congress of the Eurasian Peoples' Assembly, a round table discussion on "Environmentally Sustainable Development" was held.

    Representatives of eight countries and several regions of the Russian Federation took part in it. Representatives of the Presidential Administration, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade, representatives of civil society, and experts participated in the discussion of priority areas. Among urgent tasks, the need for expert development in determining models of environmentally sustainable development, a system of indicators and mechanisms necessary to maintain it was noted. The importance of developing education and enlightenment was emphasized. The expediency of developing cooperation in the field of ensuring environmentally sustainable development within the framework of the created Eurasian Commonwealth was determined.

    The following areas were identified as priority areas: national and regional agendas, reports and indicator systems for sustainable development goals, national climate programs, regional socio-economic initiatives, international environmental and cultural initiatives (“Earth Charter”, “Peace through Culture”, “Our Altai Common Home ”and others), regional initiatives and programs in the field of education and enlightenment, cooperation through networks of regional centers for sustainable development and the As societies of education and enlightenment in ecology and sustainable development.
