Crisis: economy & ecology
When searching for ways to overcome the crisis, it is necessary to lay the groundwork for Russia’s environmentally sustainable innovative development.
Priority measures to be implemented should take into consideration the following aspects:
State support of businesses under crisis conditions should be accompanied by compliance with environmental requirements and the promotion of environmentally clean technologies and innovations.
Economic support to the ecologization of the national economy, including insurance, taxes, credits, subsidies, tariffs, levies, and so on.
Support of local initiatives related to sustainable nature use (investment projects): sustainable forest use (including non-wood forest resources); high-productivity, environmentally clean agriculture; traditional nature use; promotion of ecotourism; and so on.
Promotion of energy saving, renewable energy sources, innovations, and the best existing technologies.
Growth indicators should include not only GDP or GRP, but also indicators that take into account the “price” of economic growth for the environment and communities – indicators of sustainable development.
Development and adoption of a National Environmental Policy and a Strategy for Russian Sustainable Development. Wide use of the international community’s support for improving energy efficiency, reducing emissions, retooling production facilities, and preserving the natural wealth of the country.
Support of the Social Forum on Energy and Climate Change through active involvement of civil society in addressing the nation’s problems and positioning Russia in the world.
